Accessibility statement for LabourPains

This website is run by the Obstetric Anaesthetists’ Association. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website.

For example, this means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader.

We have also tried to make the website text as clear and simple as possible, recognising that this website provides health information for the public.

How accessible this website is

We know that some parts of this website may not be fully accessible. For example:

  • some images may not yet have appropriate text alternatives
  • some older content may not be fully optimised for assistive technologies.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

Accessibility is an ongoing priority. We are working to improve accessibility by:

  • reviewing the website regularly
  • addressing accessibility issues as they are identified
  • considering accessibility in the design of new content and features.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

This website has been developed with reference to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) published by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), and we aim for conformity with WCAG 2.1, Level AA, where reasonably possible. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities.

Non-accessible content

Some content may not be fully accessible because:

  • it was published before current accessibility standards were applied
  • it is third-party content that we do not control.

Where possible and reasonable, we aim to improve the accessibility of this content.
